It is customary for any Council to award only one winner of the Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest from each grade 8th – 12th. However, with OLPH’s fantastic participation by the 8th grade students, and Faculty and Administration supporting the program, we wound up with 3 essays at the top with only tenths of a point separating them. Given this, we decided to bend the rules a bit and award those 3 students for their submissions.

Congratulations to all OLPH 8th graders and the winners for their sincere submissions. The common theme through the submissions was the power of prayer. What a wonderful gift to our Council it was to be able to see this devotion in these young Catholic men and women. This is an affirmation of the Catholic Education that OLPH provides and a testament to the efforts that OLPH Clergy, Faculty, and Staff give to their students.

The Ruiz Family is there without fail anytime our Council, Parish, or community needs help. From assisting annually with one of our largest fundraisers, the Super Bowl Pork Loin Sale, to providing meals for the Newman Catholic Center at UTC, to just about anything you could imagine, they are ever-present in serving others. And that doesn’t count serving you at their family restaurants, El Meson in East Brainerd and Hixson. Consider visiting one of their locations for a great meal and saying thanks!

Tom is a constant contributor to all of our efforts and doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty or providing support for our many events. Congratulations Tom, and thanks for all you do for #6099!

There’s simply not enough words or time to describe everything Victor and his family contribute to our Council, State, Supreme, our Parish, and our community. It’s amazing they have time for anything else. Congratulations to the Williams family. Thank you for all you do!

Congratulations and many thanks to our immediate Past Grand Knight, Terry Duffy, who continues to contribute to our Council, the Parish, and the Community while also serving on the front lines in a hospital during these difficult times. Thanks Terry for all you do!

Brother Ron Schleifer, Godfather of Golf, conducted our annual golf tournament that funds our Notre Dame High School Scholarship Fund. The tournament was an absolute success again this year, but required much more work and planning due to the on-going pandemic and the many restrictions associated with it. Great job under tough conditions Ron!

For demonstrating Leave No Neighbor Behind by caring for a St. Stephen parishioner who is recovering from an injury while Clarence has been recovering from his own, and his many years of service to #6099.

For their continued service to our Council in these challenging times, congratulations to the entire wonderful Lloyd family!

For his dedication to our Council and taking charge of the Leave No Neighbor Behind initiative and conducting a very successful combination Blood and Food Drive on the same day. Congratulations!

This morning, Past Grand Knight and Hamilton County Deputy Sheriff Brother Craig Bodnar delivered 446 pounds of food which will provide 372 meals for those in need in our community. Pictured with Craig is Abbey from The Chattanooga Area Food Bank.

Thanks to many Brother Knights, Parishiners of St. Stephen, and others, 6099 had a great day with Blood Assurance and the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. Totals are not in yet, but the bus was packed all day, and we accepted a great amount of food. Thank you to all who donated!

Knights of Columbus Holy Family Council 6099 maintains the yard for The Home Place on Citico Ave. here in Chattanooga and we and they need help.

The Home Place, a member of Catholic Charities USA, is a residential facility that provides a stable, healthy environment and intensive case management services for individuals who are in need.

We could use some strong healthy young men and women to assist us. Notre Dame High School students need documented volunteer hours. Any volunteers would be supervised and trained and work in a safe environment.
